Tanzboden (Dance Floor) shows a large-scale annual techno event in Mannheim, recorded with a computer-controlled SLR camera attached to the lighting rig. Due to the constantly changing lights, the recording was technically unpredictable. Consequently, a large number of images were out-of-focus and merely abstract.
There are three versions of Tanzboden. Version 1 is a site-specific panorama installation.
Version 2 is a framed inkjet print with production details and the line-up of DJs printed on the white border.
Version 3, Tanzboden Abstracts, is a series of fortynine prints of single images.
Version 4, Obey, Obey, is a group of nine framed images.
Some images from this recording are part of Sale & Pleasure Abstracts, a series of posters (120 × 80 cm).
